Celebrating 7 Wonderful Years!

It may not be our golden anniversary but Dundarave Fish Market is celebrating a very special one…September 8th, 2002, owners Kim Van Sickle and Frank Seabolt realized their dream and opened the doors to their very first customers…and since then, they’ve never looked back!  Initially, Dundarave Fish Market was just that….a retail seafood market.  Encouraged by growing success and their endless passion of sharing the experience of fresh seafood, they added a soup pot, panini maker and a few tables and started serving chowder and sandwiches.  From here, Dundarave Fish Market blossomed into a full service restaurant being nominated as an award winning neighbourhood restaurant on a variety of occasions.  Offering customers exquisite and unique food, a warm and welcoming ambiance and the ability to choose fresh fish from the counter, cooked by expert chefs are just one of the ingredients that have made this place successful.  The most recent addition to the Dundarave Fish Market family are Kim’s inspired Simply West Coast Sauces.  Simply designed to make cooking seafood easy even for the most novices of seafood cooks!

The rest is history as they say…however much of our success is
owed to you, the integral ingredient…our loyal customers.  We are honoured by your continued support throughout the years – we couldn’t have done it without you – a big thank you!   As a token of our appreciation, Tuesday, September 8th, 2009, we will be celebrating our 7 year anniversary in our store.  In honour of our customers, we will be presenting everyone with a bottle of our famous Simply West Coast Sauce.  We hope to see you all there!

At Dundarave Fish Market, the philosophy and passion for sharing unforgettable experience goes beyond the locale itself.  Just as important and key, to the owners and staff, is supporting the community itself.  Friday, September 18th, North Shore Family Services are holding a noteworthy fund raising event.  All Seafood served at this event will be donated by Dundarave Fish Market and Octo Chef Spooner is also donating his time, as a celebrity chef amongst other top chefs of Vancouver, to this worthy cause.  Thank you to all, Krisite Brinkley for inviting us, Octo for donating you time and Dundarave Fish Market.
 
Dundarave Fish Market is also proud to announce that they have partnered with the Kay Meek Centre to offer an exciting new discount program for valued customers.  Here’s how it works:

Tonight’s Dinner with…
Simply West Coast Sauces

Modest Miso Vinaigrette      Deceptively complex. Perfect for salads or as a white fish marinade.
A great little vinaigrette and marinade with an Asian style

  • Cover fresh or frozen salmon and marinate in the fridge for 1 hour. For a bolder flavour, marinate overnight. Grill. Finish with toasted sesame seeds. 
           
  • Marinate your favourite white fish for 1 hour and bake. Delicious as a dipping sauce with pan fried Digby scallops. Or place cooked scallops on your best plate, swirl miso on top. Let guests dig in!    
           
  • For a simply delicious meal marinate chicken or beef for 1 hour and bake or grill. Serve with veggies on a bed of wild rice.          
                
  • Toss with wild greens and cooled cooked noodles for a perfect summer salad.     

  • Stir fry with scallops, prawns, whitefish, beef or chicken.

  • One might escape but they do come back!  Casey Ponak, an amazing hostess, will be leaving us in August to go back to university.  But Casey will be back next summer (yeah!)…we’ll miss you lots – a  huge thank you – and all the best in school! 

  • The distance may be great but family is always family! Michelle Ho is in China visiting her family.  It’s been almost
    2 ½ years since she visited them – wishing you happy travels Michelle!
  • “Tails out of school?”…Are fish now playing “hooky”?  Not quite but one of our customers caught a 22 pounder in Cap River – wow!
