Change is Truly in the Air!

It’s hard to believe but we’re already well into the autumn season! Change is all around us from the leaves on the trees turning brilliant colours, to shorter daylight and cooler evenings it’s all part of the course. Keeping in tempo with Mother Nature, we at Dundarave Fish Market have some exciting events happening this month….Dundarave Fish Market is proud to announce that they have partnered with the Kay Meek Centre to offer an exciting new
discount program for valued customers .

Here’s how it works:

1. Buy your tickets to any event presented

at Kay Meek Centre. (See our season brochure for details, or call our box office for information.) http://kaymeekcentre.weebly.com/theatre-dine-out.html

2. Ask the box office to put your tickets in the mail.

3. Make a dinner reservation at Dundarave Fish Market and let the restaurant know that you will be attending a performance at Kay Meek Centre. (We suggest that you arrive at the restaurant an hour and a half to two hours before the performance start time.).

4. If you are attending an afternoon performance, consider lunch before the performance or an early dinner following the performance.

5. Present your event ticket and you will receive a 15% discount on your entree!

For more information about exciting performances held at Kay Meek Centre, please see their season brochure or visit their website at www.kaymeekcentre.com or call 604-913-3634. Enjoy!

It’s supposed to “silent” but we’re going to make lots of “noise” over it! We’re proud and honored to host Dundarave Business Association’s silent auction fundraiser to beautify Dundarave Village on Monday, November 2 from 6 pm – 11 pm. Tickets are $20 per person. Come join us in supporting this amazing community we live in. Peruse the many wonderful items to bid on while tasting some of Octo Chef Spooner’s awesome fish appetizers created especially for this occasion!

The “Living Naturally Fair 2009” held at Capers on Robson Street, in September, was spectacular and a great time was had by all! A big thanks to all the staff at Capers on Robson for all your help and support – it was much appreciated!

Along with sampling our signature Simply West Coast Sauces, we also drew 5 names for Simply West Coast Baskets. The lucky winners of these prizes were:

• Karen Mott • Debbie Wong • Musa Kalaora
• Marlon Krukowski • Victoria Nunweller

This season has also brought some new changes to Dundarave Fish Market. Many of you have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Molly Kiefer. Sadly to say, she has decided to spread her wings and broaden her horizons. Molly, it was a pleasure having you with us…we wish you all the very best in your future endeavors. I’d like to welcome aboard our newest crew member and manager…Sean Davis !

Tonight’s Dinner with…

Sinful Coconut Cream Sauce An exotic touch to any seafood dish.

• Heat sauce thoroughly, add dill and tarragon and pour over baked salmon. Sauté lemongrass in butter, add white wine, coconut cream sauce and fish. Poach white fish until cooked thoroughly.

• Lightly sauté prawns and scallops in butter. Before shellfish is fully cooked pour sauce in pan. Finish cooking. Serve over noodles.

• Crab fettuccine: sauté crab in butter, add sauce and cook on medium until crab is cooked. Add hot fettuccine and toss. Top with fresh parmesan.

• Use coconut cream sauce in your favourite scalloped oyster recipe.

• Replace coconut milk with equal parts of coconut cream sauce in your favourite butter chicken recipe.

• Add a jar of coconut cream sauce to your favourite crab bisque or seafood chowder recipe.

• Eggs Benedict: replace hollandaise with coconut cream sauce. Heat sauce on stove top and reduce by half. Stir lots. Pour
thickened sauce over poached eggs. Yum!

• Chop fresh cilantro and Thai basil and sprinkle on top of Coconut Cream

• It takes an amazing crew to haul in the catch…a big thanks to all the staff at Dundarave Fish Market for hauling all your efforts into this very, very busy summer! Your hard work and going the extra mile has not gone unnoticed!

• 101 things you must eat before you die...Riptide Squid at the Dundarave Fish Market…absolutely divine!

• The stars at night are not the only things you’ll see these clear nights. Spotted dining at our restaurant were:
